COLUMBUS, Neb. - From the 1970s through the early 2000s, Lockwood Corp. designed, manufactured and sold center pivots to the irrigation industry out of its plant in Gering, Neb. Lockwood established a strong dealer and sales network.

Financial and operational issues caused Lockwood to close. Nebraska Irrigation (NI) of Columbus became the owner of Lockwood irrigation center pivots intellectual property, original drawings, fabrication dies, welding jigs fixtures, computers, pivot records and miscellaneous items. NI made a major expansion to its manufacturing facility in Columbus and added additional equipment to handle the fabricating of the Lockwood center pivot product line.

This acquisition has enabled NI to manufacture and support Lockwood structural components, controls, drive trains and sprinkler packages for most models including: Model 2005, Model 2006, Model 2010, Model 2200 (in 5-inch, 6 5/8-inch and 8-inch) Model 2265, Model 2205, Model 2208 and Model 2210.
